ALAMEDA, Calif., July 11, 2001 — Wind River Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:WIND), a leading provider of software and services for connected smart devices, today presented its "Cool Customer Design" award to privately held, multinational InnoMedia™ Pte Ltd. for its IP VideoPhone. InnoMedia's product was built using Wind River's VxWorks® real-time operating system (RTOS) and Tornado® integrated development environment and is one of the world's first IP-based desktop video communications systems.

The InnoMedia IP VideoPhone is a compact, all-in-one desktop phone that reduces the complexity of videoconferencing, allowing users to place free person-to-person video calls anywhere in the world over a broadband connection. This plug-and-play system delivers convenient, cost-effective, high-quality video face-to-face communication without the expense or requirement of a PC. The IP VideoPhone boasts a 4-inch thin film transistor (TFT) color liquid crystal display (LCD) and a high-quality charge coupled device (CCD) camera, as well as having audio/video inputs and outputs for connecting to a TV, VCR, or projector. It also comes equipped with a speakerphone, last-number redial, and caller ID, as well as advanced features that include a built-in phone book, auto-answer option, adjustable bandwidth support from as low as 32 kbps up to 128 kbps, and it can interoperate with room-based legacy videoconferencing systems. The IP VideoPhone can also be configured and upgraded remotely via a web browser on a PC.

InnoMedia's design and development challenges included limited development resources, a need for the product to endure rapidly changing hardware platforms, and a highly competitive market environment.
