Wind River Declares Commitment to POSIX and PSE54 Conformance

Wind River’s VxWorks General Purpose Platform is currently POSIX-compliant. This year, Wind River will release VxWorks 6.0, which includes process model memory protection and significantly enhanced levels of POSIX compliance. The IEEE 1003.1-2003 POSIX standard, developed and maintained by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), defines standard application programming interfaces to support code portability. The IEEE 1003.13 real-time profiles allow real-time operating systems to have standard POSIX interfaces without requiring a traditional full UNIX kernel. With POSIX, organizations in sectors, such as the government, can reduce costs and increase efficiencies by leveraging device software across multiple projects.
