Embedded University Series

Designing Safe, Secure, and Reliable Critical Infrastructure IoT Systems

There's no way around it — as a software developer, system engineer, or system architect, you're going to encounter design complexity when developing safe, secure, and reliable IoT systems for today's critical infrastructure. In this new software-defined world, and with the IoT exploding around us, companies like yours must adapt to stay relevant.

Wind River® is excited to sponsor an online three-part Embedded University series from Embedded Computing Design on how to design safe, secure, and reliable critical infrastructure IoT systems.

LEARN TO
  • Update, not replace, your current critical infrastructure system for today's digital universe
  • Meet the safety and security requirements necessary for connecting to the IoT
  • Use virtualization to reduce your IoT critical infrastructure system cost and risk

IoT Critical Infrastructure Design

September 26, 8 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. ET

With legacy critical infrastructure just too expensive to replace completely, there are ways to implement new features that will define premium products for your market and meet the safety and security requirements necessary for connecting to the IoT. In Day 1 of this three-day class, we'll look at how you can transform digitally and ensure that your applications remain safe and secure.

MEET THE NEW VXWORKS
Redefining the RTOS

WEB SEMINAR

Huge industry disruptors such as 5G and artificial intelligence (AI) are forcing us to rethink how we design and build embedded systems. Now more than ever, devices, machines, and systems require even more security, safety, reliability, and certifiability. There is a growing need for the real-time operating system (RTOS) to serve as the foundation for a new era of embedded design.

For more than 30 years, VxWorks® has led the industry in creating mission-critical applications in all market segments: automotive, avionics, defense, industrial, medical, robotics, space, telecom, and transportation. Today, a new VxWorks emerges to lead and empower a new generation of embedded developers to use popular programming languages and libraries (C++17, Python, Rust, and Boost), along with cloud-based infrastructures to innovate.

Join us for a lively web seminar presented by the Wind River® product strategist responsible for bringing the latest VxWorks to market. Michel Chabroux will focus on the many significant enhancements implemented in VxWorks and associated tools, designed to:

  • Streamline software development
  • Achieve greater performance and determinism
  • Make systems more secure
  • Lower certification costs
  • Enable modern, software-defined systems

Presented by Michel Chabroux, Senior Director Product Management

Michel Chabroux is responsible for the strategy and management of the Edge Devices portfolio at Wind River, which includes the VxWorks and Wind River Helix Virtualization Platform product lines. Prior to working in product management, he was a field application engineer. Michel has also spent time in Wind River’s award-winning support, training, and services organization. He joined Wind River in 2006. He is an industry veteran with more than 15 years of embedded systems experience. Before being involved in embedded, Michel was a consultant in management information systems.

Wind River Web Seminario

Portabilità e Consolidamento delle
Applicazioni mediante Virtualizzazione.
Introduzione a Wind River Helix Virtualization Platform.

Settembre 11, ore 11:00

  • Massimiliano De Otto,

The New Intelligent Edge

Learn about the four drivers of digital transformation at the intelligent edge and the key questions that will help architect your success.

Recorded on August 12, 2020 | 11 a.m. PT/2 p.m. ET

By 2025, an estimated 41 billion connected devices will be generating some 80 zettabytes of data, most of which will be coming through the edge, aided by 5G, AI, and cloud computing. The new intelligent edge will have little to no resemblance to the remote and isolated devices of the past.

Join Wind River® for a discussion of the future of intelligent systems and why your organization needs to digitally transform.

You will learn:
  • Why digital transformation is essential to your future success

  • How to ensure your organization has the right skills for the new digital world

  • Why AI is necessary to extract the immense value in the data being generated

  • Six new design dynamics to ensure you can adapt in the digital world

Wind River Solution Demonstration

Industrial Workload Consolidation via VxWorks virtualization technology

This 8-minute demo shows how, with virtualization advances by Wind River®, industrial workload consolidation is enabling great performance, functions, and capabilities in the factory. With Industry 4.0 software innovations, industries can bring more edge-based industrial control solutions to factories. Using VxWorks® virtualization technology, multiple separate industrial systems can be consolidated to enable a single workload consolidation solution. The industrial edge can have increased control management, edge data analytics, and ability to run both safety and non-safety applications.

Key demo features:
  • Multiple software systems working as virtual machines (VMs) on a single platform
  • Combined critical controller application and robotic safety monitor with noncritical applications
  • No effect from adverse action from one virtual VM on the operations of the critical applications
  • VxWorks virtualization hypervisor that monitors all VMs and restarts a VM when a fatal fault occurs
Speaker:
  • Ka Kay Achacoso, Application Engineer, Wind River

Cloud Native for Telco:
What It Is, and Why You Need It
