Simplified Private Cloud Orchestration with Service Now and Wind River

Agility is everything in today’s fast-moving digital landscape. Yet traditional cloud provisioning often slows innovation, requiring manual configuration, overprovisioned infrastructure, and costly delays in bringing new services to market. To stay competitive, organizations need a faster, smarter way to manage and scale their cloud environments.
With ServiceNow’s Order Management and Wind River® Conductor, ServiceNow enterprise customers can offer their end customers new business services that allow them to instantiate private cloud services easily. This joint solution merges the automation strength of ServiceNow’s orchestration workflows with Wind River’s proven cloud infrastructure, enabling businesses to deploy, manage, and scale private clouds in seconds instead of days.
SOLUTION HIGHLIGHTS
The joint solution connects ServiceNow Sales and Order Management with Wind River Cloud Platform to deliver one-touch instantiation of private cloud environments within the ServiceNow Sales Management experience. ServiceNow operates as the cloud-native orchestration and workflow layer. Cloud Platform provides the underlying private cloud infrastructure in customer-controlled environments or hosted private cloud locations. Business users and IT teams interact only with ServiceNow, using catalog items and automated workflows that trigger secure API calls into Wind River to provision and manage private cloud resources on demand.
Cloud Platform aggregates and manages compute, storage, and networking across mission-critical customerdesignated private cloud infrastructure, delivering a consistent foundation for virtual machine and container-based workloads. When a ServiceNow workflow is initiated, predefined blueprints and policies translate the request into concrete actions on the Wind River side, creating or scaling environments, applying network and security policies, and enforcing templates without manual intervention.
Because ServiceNow runs SaaS, governance, approvals, and lifecycle workflows are centrally managed in the cloud, and execution of infrastructure changes happens in Cloud Platform under customer control. This architecture lets ServiceNow’s customers’ end users orchestrate private cloud capacity as a service, which avoids overprovisioning, responds instantly to business demand, and maintains strong cost discipline without needing to operate ServiceNow itself on premises. Key customers deploying this functionality include factories deploying AI-as-a-Service and telecom customers deploying virtualized and containerized network functions.

HOW IT WORKS
Enterprises deploy the application via the Order Management product catalog. Benefits include lifecycle management integration, minimal footprint for low power consumption, open source flexibility, and mission-critical reliability.
- Customers or Sellers select infrastructure and applications from the Product or Service Catalogs, along with the deployment details.
- The integrated platform (which uses Wind River® Conductor and ServiceNow APIs) automatically provisions servers, installs applications, and configures cloud environments. Users receive notifications at each stage and are alerted when the environment is ready.
- The newly provisioned cloud is ready for users to run mission-critical applications, with full support for both edge and data center locations.
- One-touch cloud instantiation: Launch a fully configured private cloud environment instantly through ServiceNow’s familiar interface, leveraging Wind River’s underlying automated provisioning engine.
- No overprovisioning: Right-size infrastructure is based on real-time requirements. Resources are allocated on demand, eliminating waste and unnecessary capital expenses.
- Built-in agility: Rapidly respond to shifting business demands — from new service rollouts to workload migrations — with a dynamic, softwaredefined cloud backbone that adapts instantly
- Operational efficiency: Automated orchestration reduces manual overhead. That simplifies IT operations and frees teams to focus on innovation rather than maintenance.
- Cost-effective scaling: By aligning resource consumption with business needs, organizations optimize cloud economics while maintaining enterprise-grade security and performance.
- Streamlined governance and compliance: With ServiceNow’s integrated oversight and Wind River’s infrastructure reliability, every cloud instance aligns with corporate policies, security requirements, and operational best practices.
