Wind River supported Airbus in its certification milestone for automatic air-to-air refueling (A3R) on the A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft, Certification involved multiple ED-12C / DO-178C DAL A applications running simultaneously on multiple processor cores.
The automated A3R system enables more efficient operation, reduces the air refueling operator (ARO) workload, reduces the inherent operational risk, and optimizes the rate of air-to-air refueling transfer.
For more than three decades, Wind River has provided NASA and commercial space companies with the most proven software platforms to bring dozens of intelligent systems to space, resulting in some of the most significant space missions in history.
For multiple missions, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) chose VxWorks as the core operating system for on-board spacecraft control.
Astroscale turned to Wind River for its End-of-Life Service line (ELSA-M) to solve satellite operators’ debris removal challenges and promote sustainable space systems. VxWorks was chosen for their radiation-hardened onboard control to run Astroscale’s software applications, for vision processing to detect and track space debris, and for autonomous navigation and rendezvous operations.
