Wind River Announces Grand Opening Of Its Embedded Design Center

ALAMEDA, Calif., July 23, 2001 - Wind River Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:WIND), a leading provider of software and services for connected smart devices, today announced the grand opening of its Embedded Design Center located in Wind River's Sunnyvale, California campus. The creation of the Embedded Design Center executes on Wind River's goal to enable and support customers and partners in the discovery, design, development and deployment stages of the embedded product life cycle. This lab environment provides Wind River's customers and partners with an opportunity to test, validate, and run market leading embedded technologies from Wind River as well as products from Wind River partners.

The Embedded Design Center has development tools spanning the embedded software spectrum from hardware bring-up tools, to connectivity, to in-field management and design services available for live demonstration and testing. A secure interoperability lab and a full training facility for Wind River certification courses as well as customized training programs for customers and partners will also be available at the new location.

Added Features with Partner Technologies
In addition to Wind River's products, the Embedded Design Center will give customers and partners the opportunity to explore the value in the large variety of embedded technologies offered by the more than 600 members of Wind River's WindLink Partner Program. Wind River's close development partnerships with the leading semiconductor companies allows Wind River to offer the most extensive platform and processor support of any company in the industryproviding customers the needed software support regardless of their project's architecture specifications.

Wind River's CEO, Tom St. Dennis will give a dedication speech during the grand opening celebration at the Sunnyvale, California location on July 25th . In addition to WindLink Partner technologies, Wind River's new high availability software, Tornado™ for Managed Switches, Tornado for Home Gateways, Tornado for Intelligent Network Acceleration, and reference board bring-up tools will be demonstrated at the event as well as presentations which will describe the capacities and programs available through the Center.
