VxWorks® 653 Platform has passed the Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE™) conformance certification for the FACE Operating System Segment (OSS) Safety Base Profile.
VxWorks 653 is the first commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) product to achieve this significant FACE certification milestone and can now be rapidly integrated with other FACE software components that have passed FACE conformance verification.
The FACE Standard
The FACE approach is a government-industry software standard and business strategy for acquisition of affordable software systems, promoting innovation and rapid integration of portable capabilities across global defense programs.
FACE conformance can:
Help manufacturers and military services lower procurement costs
Avoid and prevent supplier lock-in
Support government procurement mandates such as Better Buying Power 3.0
Ensure that manufacturers can easily and rapidly integrate ARINC 653 and POSIX® applications software with other FACE portable software components that have completed FACE conformance verification
Increase portability and reuse across global defense programs and platforms
The FACE Consortium, managed by The Open Group, has created a suite of business and technical documents to form the foundation of this global specification, supported by more than 90 government and industry member organizations and over 1,000 individuals. Wind River® worked with its FACE Verification Authority, TES-SAVi, to complete the rigorous FACE certification conformance testing.
VxWorks 653 is the leader in COTS ARINC 653 real-time operating environments. More than 200 customers have used VxWorks 653 in over 400 programs on over 80 civilian and military aircraft, including the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the Airbus A400M, and the Northrop Grumman UH-60V Black Hawk avionics upgrade.
