The 25.09 release of Wind River® Cloud Platform highlights features that redefine mission-critical cloud infrastructure.

 

This release is part of a larger solution. Wind River Private Cloud Suite encompasses Wind River Cloud Platform 25.09, Wind River OpenStack 25.09, Wind River Conductor 25.09, and Wind River Analytics 25.09. The Cloud Platform 25.09 features and capabilities captured in this overview are enabled by the combination of these four products, yielding a comprehensive private cloud solution that provides efficiency, stronger protection, and seamless operations.

Cloud Platform 25.09 helps organizations meet rising performance demands at the edge with ultra-low latency and higher throughput per core. MAXIMIZED EFFICIENCY

With a 10% reduction in memory requirements, Cloud Platform 25.09 unlocks more application resources on the same infrastructure. The leaner footprint boosts workload density and ROI while extending hardware life, cutting power and cooling costs, and deferring capacity upgrades.

Flexible networking in OpenStack 25.09 helps balance performance and efficiency across edge sites by conserving resources with open vSwitch (OVS) or achieving ultralow latency and high throughput with OVS and the Data Plane Development Kit (DPDK) for demanding workloads such as IoT gateways, firewalls, VPNs, intrusion prevention, and virtualized network functions.

ZERO-TRUST PROTECTION

Cloud Platform 25.09 strengthens security defenses that simplify operations and harden protection. Enhanced IPSec encryption protects communication between Kubernetes pods, straddling server hosts. This security enhancement eliminates the need for external security tools, reducing the total cost of ownership.

Intermediate certificate authority (CA) support anchors Kubernetes certificates to a public third-party root CA, creating a unified trust anchor across distributed environments.

These advancements simplify security key management and streamline compliance. The result: stronger protection, easier governance, and a secure foundation for critical applications from edge to cloud — without adding operational overhead.

FRICTIONLESS OPERATIONS

Several new and enhanced features in this release strengthen operational efficiency and platform manageability. Together, the advancements improve reliability, lower OpEx, and provide the confidence to scale mission-critical systems with ease.

Automation and visibility in Cloud Platform 25.09 streamline infrastructure management. Enhanced Redfish integration in Conductor 25.09 automates server BIOS, firmware, and hardware lifecycle management, eliminating manual effort, preventing configuration drift, and ensuring policy consistency across distributed sites.

One-click deployment of OpenStack 25.09 simplifies installation. That reduces errors and accelerates time-to-value, especially when running VM workloads or migrating from VMware.

Conductor 25.09 enables faster, safer upgrades of Cloud Platform in a single-node cluster configuration. The upgrade process is completed in under an hour, with less than 25 minutes of service downtime, while supporting a built-in rollback option for quick recovery.

Analytics 25.09 adds host-level visibility into OpenStack and KubeVirt pods to simplify monitoring, speed troubleshooting, and reduce operational effort.
