eLxr Pro™, Wind River’s commercial-support offering, provides reliable, secure, and cost-effective enterprise-grade Linux solutions tailored to address the unique challenges of edge computing. Based on the eLxr project, an open source Debian-derived Linux distribution, eLxr Pro expands access to enterprise and cloud-native environments while seamlessly connecting edge devices.
This latest release (General Availability in June 2025) is meticulously crafted to serve mission-critical and data-intensive workloads across edge and cloud deployments. Upgraded to the latest Debian 12.10 release, eLxr Pro 12.10 provides a trusted Linux foundation from the outset. Designed for both edge and server environments, eLxr Pro is enterprise ready and ensures that customers have the necessary tools for predictability, scalability, security, and long-term stability for critical workloads.
STRENGTHENED SECURITY AND COMPLIANCE
This release offers robust protection for mission-critical deployments, providing:
• Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) compliance
• Center for Internet Security (CIS) Benchmarks
• Seamless integration with BeyondTrust, an advanced endpoint security tool
• Implementation Under Test (IUT) list status for FIPS 140-3 certification on five core cryptographic modules, delivering top-tier encryption solutions for applications demanding the highest levels of security
• Certification for CIS Benchmarks, aligning with industry security standards to help organizations maintain a secure infrastructure
• Integrated AppArmor for Mandatory Access Control (MAC), providing a system-wide policy that dictates application access regardless of user permissions
STREAMLINED ACTIVATION AND ENTITLEMENT
This release modernizes software usage and access through a defined entitlement process, allowing customers to manage, track, and control their eLxr Pro subscriptions effectively. A new customer portal has been introduced, providing a centralized view of all associated active and non-active entitlements. Users can also access information about the number of machines attached to each entitlement and directly access key documentation and resources within the portal.
OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY AND MARKET COMPETITIVENESS
The release enhances value beyond the operating system, with improved container runtime and repository management to drive performance at scale and support the enterprise edge market.
