ALAMEDA, Calif. — June 21, 2010 — Wind River, a world leader in embedded and mobile software, today announced the latest version of Wind River Tilcon Graphics Suite, its solution for the development and deployment of rich graphical user interfaces for embedded devices. The updated graphics suite includes support for Open Graphics Library (OpenGL) 3D that enables highly customizable and rapid development of high-end GUIs to create improved end-user experiences across a variety of hardware platforms and operating systems, particularly in the aerospace and defense, industrial, and medical market segments.

With added OpenGL 3D support, Wind River Tilcon Graphics Suite provides device and systems manufacturers with the latest graphics design advancements that will help them develop sophisticated, compelling and highly specialized end-user interface applications, including patient monitoring devices, clinical surgery system interfaces, railway operator control panels and retail terminal interfaces.

Wind River Tilcon Graphics Suite offers a streamlined, codeless development environment, allowing developers to easily create, maintain and rebrand user interfaces at a fraction of the time and cost of traditional graphics software, to get to market faster. Additionally, Wind River Tilcon Graphics Suite is fully integrated with the latest versions of VxWorks and Wind River Linux as well as Windows CE, Windows XP, Fedora, Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Ubuntu. Hardware support has also been broadened to now include Freescale i.MX31, Intel® Atom™ processors and Texas Instruments OMAP platforms, providing customers with choice when selecting hardware to fit their specific product needs.

Wind River Tilcon Graphics Suite includes Wind River Tilcon Interface Development Tool, which utilizes drag-and-drop simplicity to quickly create a complete, functional and user-friendly interface. At the heart of the Tilcon technology is Wind River Tilcon GUI Engine, which handles low-level graphics code, fonts, text, images and colors. Wind River Tilcon Graphics Suite allows developers to leverage the power of OpenGL's open, vendor-neutral, multi-platform graphics standard across popular desktop and workstation platforms, ensuring that broad application deployment is possible. Wind River also provides developer tutorials for Wind River Tilcon Graphics Suite, with additional support available from Wind River's global technical support and services.

In a separate announcement today, Wind River also introduced a new capability to Wind River Hypervisor that enables the use of Microsoft Windows XP as a guest operating system running simultaneously with other operating systems such as VxWorks. This new capability for Wind River Hypervisor further expands Wind River’s portfolio of vertical industry solutions.
