Wind River to Support Cavium Networks ECONA CNS3XXX Family of ARM-Based Energy Efficient System-on-Chip (SoC) Processors for the Digital Home

ALAMEDA, CA — September 8, 2009 — Wind River today announced that it will develop and market a software platform optimized on the ECONA ARM-based energy efficient processors from Cavium Networks (NASDAQ: CAVM), a leading provider of semiconductor products that enable intelligent processing for networking, communications, storage, wireless, video and security applications. The Wind River and ECONA CNS3XXX-based solution will target connected broadband home and small office CPE (customer premise equipment) devices that deliver dynamic IP-centric services and support high-definition video and audio, Internet telephony, remote configuration, monitoring, and home automation.

As a Cavium PACE (Partnership to Accelerate Customer End-solutions) member, Wind River will build upon its successful strategic business and engineering relationship with Cavium in the network infrastructure market to deliver highly optimized and targeted solutions for the fast growing connected home market. Customers will be able to build end-to-end network elements and consumer device applications utilizing Wind River's proven VxWorks and Wind River Linux run-time platforms and advanced networking technologies with Cavium Networks' high-performance OCTEON and ECONA product lines.

"The emerging all IP-based next-generation network is enabling a magnitude of new broadband services for the connected home," said Tomas Evensen, chief technology officer, Wind River. "By extending our long-standing relationship with Cavium and heritage in the telecommunications market, we will bring highly optimized and targeted device solutions to the connected home market."

"Cavium Networks is a leading provider of broadband home gateways and high-performance systems. The new ECONA CNS3XXX dual-core ARM processor line with advanced hardware acceleration will enable service providers and consumer equipment manufactures to build low-power and high-performance gateways and devices," said Sandeep Vij, general manager and vice president, Cavium Networks. "By collaborating with Wind River, we will provide our joint customers with a tightly integrated, feature rich, and proven high-performance software and hardware solution that will enable the next generation of connected home services."

The recently announced Cavium Networks next-generation ECONA family of processors offers single and dual ARM11 MPCore processors, a rich set of integrated hardware accelerators and a range of I/Os for glueless voice, video and data connectivity. Sophisticated power management techniques enable super low-power operation starting at less than 1 Watt. The ECONA CNS3XXX family is targeted for applications including FTTH broadband gateways, network attached storage appliances, multimedia picture frames, media and print servers, IP cameras and wireless access points.
