Wind River Software Powers Affordably Priced Xerox Printers
The Xerox DocuPrint M750 and DocuPrint M760 are Xerox's first color inkjet printers released from an alliance with Sharp Corporation and Fuji Xerox, announced last March. Additional M-Series products that use VxWorks include the WorkCentre M940 and WorkCentre M950 color inkjet multifunction products which copy, print, scan, and PC Fax. Each M-Series product uses two advanced features: eXpress Mode™ which ensures business quality output at speeds up to twice as fast as competitors´ normal mode; and InkLogic™ technology, which eliminates waste by using separate ink tanks for each color.
"We chose Wind River's solid VxWorks RTOS because of its flexibility and reliability," said John Moreland, manager of software and controller development, Xerox SOHO Business Group. "It is the most widely adopted RTOS in the industry and runs on all of the popular processors."
"Wind River is delighted to have helped Xerox bring the world of high-quality printing to small businesses and consumers at prices they can afford," said J. C. Sarner, vice president and general manager, Wind River Consumer business unit. "Wind River provides a complete portfolio of software and services designed specifically for the development of consumer electronics devices. It is part of our overall strategy to help original equipment manufacturers such as Xerox reduce development time, resulting in cost-effective products delivered to consumers within a tight market window."
