Wind River Appoints Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing

ALAMEDA, Calif., May 30, 2001 - Wind River Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:WIND), a leading provider of software and services for connected smart devices, today announced the appointment of Steve Kennedy as vice president of worldwide sales and marketing. In this new position, Kennedy will be responsible for directing Wind River's sales efforts in North America, Europe the Middle East, and Asia Pacific. In addition, Kennedy will direct corporate communications globally. Wind River's direct sales force accounts for about 700 sales and field engineers, while worldwide corporate marketing for Wind River totals nearly 35 professionals.

Kennedy joins Wind River with an established background in sales and marketing. Prior to joining Wind River, he was senior vice president worldwide sales and marketing at SONICblue Corporation from 1999 to the present. Kennedy also spent 10 years at Quantum Corporation, where he most recently served as the executive vice president worldwide sales and marketing. While at Quantum, Kennedy was an integral part of the company's sales growth, which went from $200 million when he started to $5.9 billion when he left the company. Kennedy holds a B.A. in Business Studies from Portsmouth University, Portsmouth, England.
