Wind River Worldwide Professional Services Earns Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Level 3 Rating in Seventeen Process Areas

ALAMEDA, Calif. — January 8, 2007 — Wind River Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:WIND), the global leader in Device Software Optimization (DSO), today announced that Wind River’s Worldwide Professional Services has achieved a Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Capability Level 3 rating in seventeen process areas, simultaneously achieving a Maturity Level 3 rating by equivalent staging. The CMMI, created by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI), is a set of best practices for process improvements in development and services organizations. Wind River Professional Services’ processes are rigorously followed and continually improved to meet changing customer needs. Consistent adherence to these processes provides customers with high-quality product, on time, on budget and within scope. Wind River earned the Level 3 rating in Systems and Software Engineering disciplines for its design services centers in San Diego, CA; Ottawa, Canada; Ismaning, Germany and Grenoble, France. Preparation for the appraisal took approximately one year to examine, organize, and ensure that all processes were robust, disciplined and consistently applied. “Wind River Professional Services is one of very few organizations I’ve worked with that is truly process driven, enabling the company to achieve this level of CMMI rating in a rapid timescale,” said Adrian Gill, director, GillPage Associates, CMMI authorized lead appraiser. “With so many development projects prone to bugs which escalate costs and create delays, Wind River Professional Services’ successful appraisal gives added confidence to customers that they will meet their time-to-market and budget goals.” “Wind River’s CMMI Maturity Level 3 rating builds on our recent Support Center Practices certification and provides additional proof of the world class services and support Wind River is committed to delivering,” said Damian Artt, vice president of worldwide services at Wind River. “The CMMI rating demonstrates that Wind River not only understands the most complex demands of device software development, but that we also mitigate our customers’ development risks by applying proven processes and consistently improving them with real project experience.” Wind River Process Areas Assessed:
