Kenwood has already received several independent awards for Entre including a 2002 Design & Innovation Award from Popular Mechanics Magazine.

The Kenwood Sovereign Entre was jointly developed with OpenGlobe, Inc., a leading entertainment services and media device technologies provider, who integrated key aspects of the Audio and Video interface, delivering Internet services that make this device uniquely powerful. The OpenGlobe technology allows consumers to organize, manage and play their media as well as personally explore their media interests. The intuitive TV screen interface allows users to access movie and music metadata, cover art, Internet radio stations from Sirius Satellite Radio, Radio Free Virgin and a range of other "behind the entertainment" information via OpenGlobe Entertainment Services.

Additionally, this system connects to and controls other Kenwood Sovereign Audio and Video system components, while providing a streaming audio source for other devices on a home network, from its 20-gigabyte, high capacity music storage device. The reliability of Wind River s operating system and proven compliant networking technology helped simplify the integration and test burden in developing this highly connected device.

"The Kenwood Entre is a great example of how a proven integrated suite of partnerships, technology and outsourcing services can assist companies in moving reference technology into commercial product. By teaming with Wind River and partners like OpenGlobe in this manner, companies such as Kenwood are better able to focus on key innovation and product differentiation," said Dave Fraser, group vice president and general manager of Wind River s Networking business unit.

"Our customers rely on us to give them the best, cutting edge, innovative, proven products in the market today. With the help of OpenGlobe and Wind River s software we delivered on those promises," said Bob Law, Kenwood vice president of sales and marketing. "We are very pleased to be chosen for this Cool Customer Award for our Kenwood Sovereign Entre"

"Combining our technologies with Wind River has helped marquee brands such as Kenwood accelerate their time-to-market to deliver award-winning connected entertainment products that truly enhance the entertainment experience," said Bernie Sepaniak, President and CEO of OpenGlobe.
