Alameda, Calif.--April 21, 2003-- Wind River (Nasdaq: WIND), the worldwide market leader in embedded software and services, today announced that Redlake, an acknowledged leader in high-performance digital imaging, utilized a combination of Wind River integrated embedded technology and services to deliver the MotionXtra™ HG-100K -- a network-based, high-speed digital camera designed to capture extreme events in harsh environments such as automotive airbag deployment and vehicle impact testing. Wind River's expert services team worked closely with Redlake and helped speed time to market for this breakthrough camera by providing Redlake with the technology and services to meet their specific business needs and timeframe.

By using the MotionXtra HG-100K, automotive manufacturers such as Honda, Autoliv and Saab are quickly able to capture and analyze data obtained during rigorous crash tests. The camera, which is about the size of a lunch box, can withstand physical forces of up to 100G, and is capable of capturing 1,000 frames per second (fps) with a razor sharp resolution of 1504x1128 pixels ¾ the highest resolution at 1000 fps available on the market today. Frame rates of 100,000 frames per second are also available at reduced resolutions. The data obtained from this extremely reliable camera helps automotive engineers evaluate all aspects of vehicle design and occupant safety, so leading car manufacturers can evaluate and enhance vehicle safety features.

"Faced with a tight project timeframe, Wind River's professional services worked directly with our engineers to deliver highly customized technology that met the specific requirements of the HG-100K," said Mike Gioseffi, President of Redlake, a subsidiary of Roper Industries (NYSE:ROP). "Now, with a reliable, reusable software development foundation in place, we are able to control development costs while focusing our efforts on delivering next generation imaging technology that helps our customers enhance the safety and reliability of their products."

Wind River technology is used throughout the HG-100K System, which consists of three main components: the camera, MotionCentral Software and an optional Hub Sync Unit, which functions as an industrialized Gigabit Ethernet hub that allows remote camera control and rapid download of TIFF or compact format images to servers and handheld devices. Key WIND RIVER PLATFORM components included in the development of the Redlake MotionXtra HG-100K Camera include the industry's leading real time operating system (RTOS), Wind River VxWorks®, Wind River's Tornado® development environment, TFFS and Network stack.

Wind River's services team aided in the overall design and development of the hardware and software as well as prototyping and production for the camera. With pre-integrated technology developed and tested by Wind River, Redlake was able to focus on their core expertise in imaging and bring this innovative camera to market faster.

"The successful delivery of the HG-100K illustrates how Wind River's professional services team can serve as a strategic partner to address our customer's business needs and tailor technology specifically designed to meet their current and future development requirements," said Brad Murdoch, vice president and general manager Wind River Services. "As Redlake's trusted advisor, we look forward to providing the most reliable technology and ongoing support to meet and exceed Redlake's unique and ever-changing needs."
