Wind River to Support Development of Military Communications Device by EADS CASA for Airbus A400M and MRTT Tanker

ALAMEDA, Calif. – April 3, 2006 – Wind River Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:WIND), the global leader in Device Software Optimization (DSO), today announced that EADS-CASA / , the Spanish aerospace division of the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company (EADS), has selected Wind River® Platform for Safety Critical DO-178B as the foundation of its Multifunctional Information Distribution Systems (MIDS) Interface Computer (MIC) for the Airbus A400M aircraft and for the multi-role tanker transport aircrafts based in Airbus 330 platform (MRTT). This agreement marks EADS-CASA's continued commitment to Wind River's device software platform that has enabled a significant reduction in device development time. EADS-CASA has already standardized its internal software development efforts on Wind River's device software platforms and currently uses Wind River Platform for Safety Critical to develop other DO-178B certifiable systems.

The MIC is general purpose equipment for the Airbus A400M and MRTT programs, managing and exchanging all Link 16 data, which allows military aircraft, ships and army units to exchange tactical information in real-time between MIDS radio units and a secure military bus or network. EADS-CASA will develop the MIC using Wind River Platform for Safety Critical DO-178B on ARINC 600 equipment using PowerPC processors on compact PCI boards. Wind River Platform for Safety Critical DO-178B will enableEADS-CASA also to develop its own certifiable board support packages, a bootable operating system, bootloader and set of device drivers for all the devices on board.
