WHAT:
Wind River Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: WIND), the worldwide market leader in embedded software and services will participate in Telematics Update in Detroit, showcasing Wind River's market-specific integrated embedded platform for the telematics industry -- WIND RIVER PLATFORM for Car Infotainment--and end user products.

A Maserati Spyder will be on display in the Wind River booth, sporting the Telematics and Infotainment System information services node, the latest in a line of innovations from Ixfin Magneti Marelli Sistemi Elettronici. The telematics system was built on Wind River's technology and integrates a satellite navigator, a dual-band GSM telephone, voice recognition, text-to-speech, a radio and CD player supporting MP3.

WHY:

• The amount of silicon in cars is rapidly increasing. The Telematics Research Group predicts there will be more than 105 million telematics-enabled automobiles on the roads worldwide between 2006-2010.


• WIND RIVER PLATFORM for Car Infotainment, announced on Wednesday, April 23 in San Francisco, is an integrated embedded platform that serves as the software foundation for developing car infotainment and telematic devices.


• Using PLATFORM for Car Infotainmnet, OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers can standardize on a single, market-specific integrated embedded platform across product lines, reducing their engineering costs and speeding development cycles.
