Wind River Joins Forces with the COMET Program to Deliver Integrated Telematics Solutions

ALAMEDA, Calif.--October 27, 2003--Wind River Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: WIND), the worldwide market leader in embedded software and services, today announced its membership in the Community Enabling Telematics (COMET™) partnership program, a cooperative association launched by Renesas Technology America, Inc. COMET members are working to deliver integrated platform-based telematics solutions that help end-users accelerate the development of automotive devices. Wind River's involvement in the COMET program enables associated partners to build, fortify and deliver proven and reliable solutions, such as WIND RIVER® PLATFORM for Car Infotainment, to customers within the automotive industry.

Wind River's participation in the COMET program signifies the company's commitment to building and growing long-term relationships with other industry leaders within the automotive market. Through collaboration, the COMET program will help promote industry standardization, thus supplying proven integrated platform-based solutions to the automotive market that allow customers to focus on their core differentiators.

The COMET program aligns closely with Wind River's approach to the WIND RIVER PLATFORM for Car Infotainment, because it recognizes the importance of integrated technologies for customers looking to improve development efficiencies, accelerate time to market and enhance product reliability. By cooperating with key partners in the COMET program, Wind River can continue to help set the pace for standardization in the embedded software industry.
