Wind River Selected by Linksys to Provide the Software Foundation and Services for their Dual Band Wireless Products
The newly released Linksys Dual Band Wireless Broadband Router and Access Point serve as the centerpiece of a home or office network. Leveraging Wind River software technology as the foundation for product functionality, Linksys has incorporated leading edge features including support for both 802.11b & 802.11a wireless networking with 802.1x authentication and authorization. Its Web-based configuration utilities are based on Wind River’s WindManage device management suite, offering seamless and adaptable management and network monitoring that scales from personal administration to interoperability with sophisticated corporate management suites. In addition, a seamless firmware update function supports ongoing maintenance and future feature enhancements.
“Linksys is committed to delivering extremely reliable, competitively priced and value added Wireless products for the consumer and business markets,” said Charles Tran, wireless product manager for Linksys. “We are confident our customers will benefit from the added value Wind River’s technology and support brings to our wireless dual band products.”
Wind River’s services team worked with Linksys to configure and optimize Wind River’s platform components, including low level hardware and driver support and implementation of a branded Web user interface to Linksys’ specifications. Working with the Wind River services team, Linksys enjoyed a cost effective route to system implementation that was sourced from the same organization as the base technology. Wind River Services is a premier provider of embedded system development services, with a global base of resources and proven track record in quality networking equipment implementations.
“We are very pleased to have been selected by Linksys as the leading vendor of wireless networking equipment for homes and small businesses,” said Brad Murdoch, vice president and general manager of services for Wind River. “This engagement demonstrates how the combination of Wind River technology and our professional services team can help our customers speed commercial product development and manage development costs. We are excited about this latest product development and look forward to providing these benefits across a broad range of Linksys devices.”
