Chisa Nakata Appointed President of Wind River Japan

Tokyo, Japan – February 3, 2020 - Wind River®, a leader in delivering software for the intelligent edge, has announced the appointment of Chisa Nakata as president of Wind River Japan. Nakata will be responsible for driving the company’s strategy, business, and operations, as well as accelerating growth in the region. She succeeds Michael Krutz, who will move to a new role as executive consultant.

Wind River is helping the world’s technology leaders power generation after generation of the safest, most secure devices in the world. In addition to leading the 5G revolution across the intelligent edge, the company’s software runs the computing systems of the most important modern infrastructure and is accelerating the evolution from automated to autonomous systems across a diverse range of use cases — from collaborative robots to commercial and military drones, connected cars to the connected factory floor — as well as the intelligent communication networks that support these applications.

“During her decade-plus career at Wind River, Nakata-san has been a strong leader significantly contributing to our growth in the region, while accelerating digital transformation for customers in Japan across critical infrastructure sectors such as industrial, medical, networking, aerospace, defense, and automotive,” said Jim Douglas, president and CEO of Wind River. “Her business savvy, along with her passion for software and leading high-performance teams will continue to further drive short and long term success as she scales our business in Japan.”

“Japan has been leading the world as a ‘monozukuri’ (manufacturing) country, in which our customers have been playing a significant role while advancing cutting-edge technology innovation. Wind River has been supporting the business of leading companies in Japan for over 30 years delivering the software foundation for mission-critical systems that demand the highest levels of safety, security and reliability,” Nakata said. “We have always been committed to building and maintaining trusting relationships with our customers in Japan, and those partnerships are growing as we help them develop the world’s most innovative technologies.”

Nakata joined Wind River K.K. in 2009. Prior to assuming the role of president, she served in a sales leadership role overseeing the sales organization in Japan as general manager. Before joining Wind River K.K., Nakata contributed to developing and growing markets for sales of client PC management software at LANDesk Software, Ltd., which she joined in 2002. The company was established as a spin-off of Intel Corporation, which she joined in 1998 responsible for developing the client PC management software business. Nakata earned a B.S. in psychology from University of Colorado.
