Alameda, Calif.—January 24, 2005—Wind River Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: WIND), the global leader in Device Software Optimization (DSO), today announced it has acquired the ScopeTools business unit of its long-standing partner, Real-Time Innovations, Inc. (RTI). The ScopeTools products—StethoScope, TraceScope, ProfileScope, MemScope and CoverageScope—currently provide the system visualization, dynamic debugging and code coverage capabilities within the Wind River Workbench product line. The acquisition underscores Wind River’s commitment to the breadth and depth of the company’s Workbench development suite.

"Growth in the complexity of end-applications, time-to-market pressures and the need to control costs is driving device manufacturers to standardize on a single software development environment," said Chris Lanfear, director, VDC Software Practice. "With the acquisition of RTI's ScopeTools Business Unit, Wind River Workbench extends its leading edge capabilities across the entire development process providing hardware, firmware and software developers with an end-to-end tools suite."
