Wind River Names John Fanelli as Vice President of Product Planning and Management

  • New executive hire will focus on product strategy and execution
  • Fanelli will drive Wind River’s product lines–Workbench, General Purpose Platform and Market Specific Solutions
  • Concurrently, Wind River delivers Platform for Network Equipment, Linux Edition Reference Design Release

Alameda, Calif.--January 5, 2005--Wind River Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:WIND), the global leader in Device Software Optimization (DSO), today announced that John Fanelli has joined the company as Vice President, Product Planning and Management. Fanelli brings more than 15 years of product management expertise to Wind River and will oversee all product planning and management functions for the company’s product lines–Wind River Workbench, General Purpose Platform and Market Specific Solutions. Fanelli will report to John Bruggeman, Wind River’s chief marketing officer. Coinciding with Fanelli’s arrival, Wind River today also announced the Reference Design Release for its Wind River Platform for Network Equipment, Linux Edition.


Fanelli joins Wind River from Sun Microsystems where he spent more than six years in a variety of leadership positions. Most recently, Fanelli served as senior director of marketing for Sun’s Network Systems Group. In that position, he played an instrumental role in developing the strategy and roadmap for Sun’s AMD Opteron processor-based server and workstation product lines. Fanelli also served as Sun’s director of business management and product marketing, Java System Network Identity, Communications and Portal Services; director of marketing and business management for the Sun ONE and iPlanet software divisions; and group marketing manager of Sun’s Solaris software division.

Fanelli holds a M.B.A. from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, a M.S. in computer science at the Illinois Institute of Technology and B.S. in computer science at the University of Michigan.
