“Standards-based hardware and software platforms can be used as the foundation for a successful device software strategy,” said Joerg Bertholdt, director of marketing, platforms for Wind River. “The latest processors in the Intel® IXP2XXX and IXP4XX product lines coupled with Wind River Platforms will allow our joint customers to lower total device software development costs while simultaneously creating superior products that can increase revenue.”

Wind River will support the new Intel IXP23XX and Intel IXP46X product lines with a broad range of products¾from hardware bring up to Wind River Platforms. Using Wind River and the Intel IXP23XX product line, developers can build networking applications such as DSLAM/Edge Switching Routers and Radio Access Networks faster. With Wind River and the IXP46X product line, developers can quickly and efficiently build SME communications applications such as broadband gateways, enterprise wireless access points and integrated access devices as well as embedded networking applications such as industrial automation and control equipment and RFID readers.

“Intel understands that to help speed product designs, customers need a comprehensive development environment at the same time that new network processor samples are available,” said Doug Davis, vice president, Intel Communications Group and general manager, Intel Infrastructure Processor Division. “Through continued support by Wind River, developers will be able to use Wind River’s platforms and tools with the new Intel® development platforms to help speed time to market and reduce development risk.”
