  • Marks a New, Strategic Relationship between Wind River and National Instruments to speed time to market for Next Generation Industrial Test and Measurement Devices

ALAMEDA, Calif.--April 12, 2004--Wind River Systems, Inc (NASDAQ: WIND), the global leader in device software optimization (DSO), today announced that it entered a strategic relationship with National Instruments to help expand their presence within the industrial market, including test and measurement, machine and process control, and autonomous and embedded applications. National Instruments selected Wind River's Platform for Industrial Automation (Platform IA), an integrated platform for industrial automation devices, to develop its next generation industrial control products. National Instruments' decision to work with Wind River is based on Wind River's ability to satisfy their technology and middleware needs, architecture requirements and real-time performance demands.

"As a leader in the test and measurement market, National Instruments is always looking for ways to leverage our success into other market areas," said Tim Dehne Senior VP of R&D, National Instruments. "By collaborating with Wind River, we are better equipped to develop the most optimal and competitive industrial measurement and control devices on the market, enabling us to strengthen our product offering for the industrial market."

By standardizing on Wind River's Platform IA, National Instruments can effectively reduce the time-to-market of its control devices while also increasing product reliability and minimizing software development.
