Wind River, RadiSys and OpenClovis Join Forces to Deliver ATCA Standards-Based Solution for Network Infrastructure Provider Airvana

ALAMEDA, Calif., February 5, 2007 – Wind River Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: WIND), RadiSys Corporation (NASDAQ:RSYS) and OpenClovis, Inc., today announced that Airvana, Inc., a leader in IP-based mobile broadband network infrastructure, has adopted a comprehensive, pre-integrated hardware and software solution, jointly developed by the three vendors, as the foundation for its Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture (ATCA)-based networking applications. A provider of powerful technology that enables global operators to deliver mobile broadband services worldwide, Airvana selected the integrated, commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS), 10G ATCA-based solution to significantly accelerate time-to-market and reduce development costs for its leading-edge network solutions. With this solution, Airvana is able to focus resources immediately on value-add application development rather than component integration.

A clear demonstration of the network equipment industry's commitment to the ATCA standard, this collaborative solution is comprised of Wind River® Platform for Network Equipment, Linux Edition, the RadiSys Promentum family of ATCA hardware platforms and OpenClovis Application Service Platform (ASP).

"These COTS products underscore the industry's drive towards hardware and software standardization that will allow infrastructure providers like Airvana to focus its efforts on introducing innovative services to the market in the most timely and cost-effective manner possible," said Frank Chen, vice president of engineering strategy & architecture, Airvana. "We are thrilled to be working with three vendors who understand the challenges facing today's networking equipment providers and who are leading the ATCA movement. The strength of their partnership and the overall value proposition made this choice easy for Airvana."

Airvana develops mobile broadband network infrastructure systems based on Internet Protocol (IP). Airvana's IP-based products deliver carrier-grade mobility, scalability and reliability and are optimized for mobile broadband multimedia service deployment. In today's competitive telecommunications environment Airvana, like other network equipment providers (NEPs) and telecommunications equipment manufacturers (TEMs), faces market pressures that allow little to no time for upgrading, implementing and integrating diverse, disparate technologies. Furthermore, managing teams that use different tools and processes also impacts schedules, complicating testing procedures and deterring overall productivity. Airvana chose to eliminate such challenges by deploying a complete, open-standards-based, carrier-grade COTS solution to better leverage existing IP and concentrate more productively on the application layer and on system-wide management and operational features that appeal to and satisfy network operators' needs for greater interoperability and affordability.

"One of the significant trends we are seeing from network infrastructure providers is a widespread move to define equipment requirements that mandate industry standards, manageability and interoperability, and ensure faster time-to-market and reduced development costs," said Stephen Balacco, director of the embedded systems software practice at VDC. "The jointly developed ATCA-based solution from Wind River, RadiSys and OpenClovis, is an excellent example of the integration and interoperability benefits that can be achieved by a well-supported industry standard. As the industry ecosystem continues to embrace standards like ATCA, TEMs will benefit from pre-integrated, end-to-end solutions that enable an increased focus on developing differentiated products and services."

Industry's First Complete Application-Ready Deployment Solution
The pre-integrated solution developed by Wind River, RadiSys and OpenClovis, eliminates Airvana's need to allocate resources for developing basic protocols and platform management solutions. This ATCA-based hardware and software environment enables rapid development of Carrier Grade Linux (CGL) applications for TEMs and NEPs.

Wind River Platform for Network Equipment, Linux Edition is the company's first platform that includes a complete Carrier Grade Linux operating system, a rich set of networking middleware and a comprehensive set of development tools, Wind River® Workbench. With Wind River's networking equipment platforms, telecommunications equipment manufacturers can develop and run the complete range of network equipment applications from core and enterprise to access and edge devices.

The RadiSys Promentum SYS-6010 is the industry's first ATCA 10Gigabit managed platform. It's a fully integrated and validated managed platform designed to address high speed I/O and bandwidth intensive traffic-bearing applications implemented in a flexible and reliable architecture complete with comprehensive system management.

The OpenClovis Application Service Platform (ASP) and Integrated Development Environment (IDE) help network equipment vendors quickly and cost-effectively build platform manageability and high availability into their next generation communication products. The OpenClovis ASP provides a complete off-the-shelf, standards aligned, manageability and high availability software solution. It is operating system-and platform-agnostic, and is pre-integrated with Wind River Platform for Network Equipment, Linux Edition.
