Low-Overhead, High-Bandwidth Communications Interface

Coupling software and hardware efficiency, the dataBLIZZARD point-to-point systems communications interface moves data at high sustained transfer rates of 80MB/sec. with minimal processor overhead. Configuration can be completed with only a few register accesses; a protocol is not required. The entire data transaction can be completed without using a remote processor cycle. The DMA transfer can be to or from any memory location in either system memory or PCI memory. The data can be contiguous or noncontiguous memory. Using dataBLIZZARD's unique mapping RAM feature, data scatter/gather can be accomplished to up to 16MB of data with a single DMA. No DMA chaining is required. The DMA address offset is done dynamically throughout the DMA transfer and can be unique for every 4KB page of memory. Software drivers are included on CD-ROM and provide all the tools required to access and control dataBLIZZARD hardware. dataBLIZZARD supports fiber-optic cable up to 500 meters. dataBLIZZARD cards and kits are available in PCI/CPCI/PMC. Kits include two cards in any combination, 10-meter fiber-optic cable, software drivers, CD-ROM, and a manual.
