Smart Security Manager for VxWorks

SSMartSecure is an extensible, scalable, small-footprint, security framework exclusively designed for embedded devices and implemented on VxWorks 5.x and VxWorks AE. The framework provides a rich set of APIs to build, maintain, and administer encrypted tunnels between multiple nodes, such as those between embedded devices or between a managed embedded system and a server. Its unique, advanced features include a choice of authentication and encryption methods, a built-in version of crypto modules, and APIs for security policy-based tunnel creation and teardown. The SSMartSecure tunnel management routines provide a choice of either creating a stunnel-conformant tunnel, or a unique, enhanced SSMart tunnel. Transparent port forwarding services built into SSMartSecure route legacy insecure application data via either type of tunnel to achieve secure transfers with no modifications. Support for NIST-approved ciphers and X.509 certificate-based authentication in a lean, robust package makes it an ideal fit for low-resource embedded environments with a need for security for new and legacy applications.
