Palomar DFX (GE Intelligent Platforms)
Single-Wide PMC With Dual 750FX PowerPC Processors
* Dual IBM 750FX PowerPC processors running at up to 1GHz each
* Single-wide PMC form factor
* 256MB ECC SDRAM
* Operates from a single 3.3 VDC supply
* 66MHz/64-bit PCI bus (PCI 2.2 compliant)
Palomar DFX is the industry's first single-wide PMC featuring two IBM 750FX PowerPC processors --- providing nearly four times the processing power of existing PPMCs, while using less than 15 watts of power. Ideal for telecommunications applications that demand the highest levels of CPU processing capability, Palomar DFX offers dramatic memory bandwidth improvements over existing designs by interleaving physical and virtual memory banks.
Unlike existing PPMCs that have 750FX chips running at 500MHz, Palomar DFX has two 750FX chips running at up to 1GHz each.* CPU PPMC customers can now get more processing power in the same form factor and still use the IBM 750FX. The board operates from a single 3.3 VDC power supply and operates in both Monarch and non-Monarch mode.
Palomar DFX features 356MB ECC SDRAM and the Marvell GT64260 Discovery Bridge. Two 10/100Mb/sec. Ethernet ports are also available through the front panel RJ-45 connector, allowing for P4 I/O routing. There is an RS-232 serial port on each processor, available via a three-pin front panel connector.
Targeted applications include aggregators/concentrators, carrier-class gateways, central office switches, edge access devices, wireless base stations, core routers, optical switches, and high-end simulators.
