Product Description
IBM's PowerNP NPe405 family of embedded processors offers industry-leadership performance/price solutions for networking applications. The NPe405H and NPe405L contain the popular PowerPC 405 CPU core to provide over 400MIPS of performance. The NPe405 chips are highly integrated and based on IBM's advanced technology, enabling the chips to be ideal for power-sensitive or space-limited networking applications.
In addition to the PowerPC core, integrated features of the NPe405 chips include on-chip Ethernet support, a 32-channel HDLC controller, an eight-port HDLC controller (NPe405H only), a PCI controller (NPe405H only), an SDRAM controller, a peripheral bus controller, and a DMA controller. Both the NPe405H and NPe405L are available in 200 and 266MHz versions. The chips are based on the scalable and established PowerPC architecture, which enables software reuse and faster time to market.
