Gary and Mary West Wireless Health Institute
Created in 2009 with a $45 million grant from the Gary and Mary West Foundation, the Gary and Mary West Health Institute (WHI) is an independent, nonprofit 501(c)(3) applied medical research organization dedicated to lowering the cost of health care by driving patient-centered solutions that make quality health care more affordable, more accessible and more efficient. An early success of technology developed at WHI was the Sense4Baby? fetal monitor, which wirelessly transmits information about high-risk pregnancies to health professionals. To date, grant funding to WHI from the Gary and Mary West Foundation ? along with personal contributions from the Wests ? total nearly $100 million.
