Wind River University Program
The Wind River® University Program allows students and faculty at colleges and universities to use state-of-the-art Wind River device software development tools for curricula and research projects.
Globally more than 1,000 universities and 25,000 students participate in the Wind River University Program.
"We have been using Wind River products for nearly a decade. ... Our real-time courses, based on a VxWorks/Tornado environment, have been very successful, producing ... graduates assuming software development positions in such companies as Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Guidant ..."
–Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
Colleges and universities may apply to receive software donations of Wind River technology. Donated licenses are for nonprofit educational use by full-time students and professors and may be used for the following:
- Courses that teach embedded systems concepts
- Graduate and undergraduate projects for various engineering and non-engineering courses
- Academic research activities where research results are publicly available
- Graduate student theses
Many popular and widely used Wind River products are available through the University Program. Wind River General Purpose Platform, VxWorks® Edition 3.x; Wind River Linux 3.x; VxWorks Developers Toolkit 2.2.1; and Wind River Simics for Academia are available.
Requests for source code products will be handled on an individual basis and are subject to a more rigorous legal process. Included with the software grant are 90 days of free online support. For further support, contact Wind River.
