* Expertise in simulation, telemetry, data acquisition, instrumentation, process control
Product Description
The SCRAMNet(R)+ (Shared Common RAM Network) Network is an ultra-fast data communications system designed for use in real-time computer systems. SCRAMNet is optimized for the high-speed transfer of small packets of data among computers when low-latency data transmission and critical timing are required. SCRAMNet is ideally suited for applications including simulation, telemetry, robotics, data acquisition, instrumentation, industrial process control, digital video, and virtual reality.
Data written to SCRAMNet's replicated shared memory at one computer is instantly sent to all other computers on the network via high-speed fiber-optics cable without processor overhead. There are no bus contentions, time-consuming protocols, or nondeterministic message crashes. Data latency is only 250-800 nanoseconds per node. Up to 256 nodes (each separated by up to 3500 meters) can be contained in a single fiber-optic ring, with both data transmission and computation occurring simultaneously.
With SCRAMNet, a real-time application sees the distributed computer system as one large, powerful, "virtual" multiprocessor. Communication of data and control can take place at memory speeds, a huge improvement over typical message-passing networks. The result is interprocessor communication that occurs at memory speeds --- on time, every time!
