Model 4205 MPC7455/57 PowerPC Processor VME Board (147)
Targets embedded applications that require high-performance I/O and processing
Product Highlights
1GHz MPC7457 or 600 MHz MPC7455 G4 PowerPC processor Hosts two VIM-2 modules, one VIM-4, or one VIM-2 and one PMC module Optional on-board Fibre Channel interface Optional on-board Gigabit Ethernet interface Two Xilinx Virtex-II FPGAs Selectable FPGA data flow architecture 2 MB L3 cache Up to 1 GB SDRAM Two 64-bit PCI buses Optional dual RACE++ interface
Product Description
The Model 4205 Single G4 Power PC VME Board supports numerous high-speed interfaces including VME64, RS-232, VIM, PMC, RACE++ and optionally, RACE++, Fibre Channel and Gigabit Ethernet. All interfaces can be included without exceeding the one-slot board configuration.
The Model 4205 includes two on-board Xilinx Virtex-II XC2V1000, or optionally XC2V3000, FPGAs that provide a high-speed synchronous bidirectional streaming data interface between peripherals, the processor and global resources. To optimize performance for specific applications, different data flow and control architectures for the FPGAs can be selected from a menu of built-in configurations. A large percentage of the FPGA resources is available to the user to implement custom signal processing configurations and algorithms.
The Model 4205 includes dual PCI buses, a PCI bridge and SDRAM memory controller that also includes a powerful DMA engine useful for moving data between resources on the board.
Wind River's VxWorks BSP provides developers with a complete library of hardware initialization, control, and application functions. Used in conjunction with Wind River's Tornado II software development environment, it speeds application development. MPI Software Technology's VSI/Pro, an implementation of VSIPL scientific and engineering functions optimized for the PowerPC, and Pentek's ReadyFlow board support libraries are also available for the Model 4205.
