ORBexpress RT, available for C++, Java, and Ada 95, is a leading real-time CORBA technology solution for building flexible, predictable applications on real-time operating systems and embedded targets.

ORBexpress RT internals were designed for optimum performance and deterministic capabilities. When used with a predictable transport and a real-time operating system such as VxWorks, ORBexpress RT allows developers to create an environment uniquely suited for building fast, reliable, distributed systems that are predictable from end to end.

Optimized for the needs of embedded and real-time applications, RT has a segmented architecture and minimal memory footprint. The segmented architecture gives developers core ORB functions with the ability to use only the features they require. This as-needed approach lends itself to small memory overhead and allows developers to leverage CORBA benefits without the penalties associated with other vendors' ORBs. ORBexpress RT is also flexible. In addition to IIOP, the RT product allows developers to "plug in" their own transports, such as native ATM, FireWire, VMEbus, shared memory, or even a project proprietary bus. This feature gives developers the flexibility to write the transports needed to connect distributed embedded systems.
