Alameda, CA – June 12, 2007 – Wind River Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:WIND), the global leader in Device Software Optimization (DSO), today announced that Bluesocket has realized reduced time to market and the ability to focus on its core competencies by leveraging Wind River® Platform for Network Equipment, Linux Edition – the industry's leading Carrier Grade Linux (CGL). Specifically, within one year of using Wind River Linux, Bluesocket upgraded its entire controller product line and launched the high-end BSAP-1700, the first enterprise-class Wi-Fi Certified Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) Access Point. Today, Bluesocket can launch products more quickly and has been able to focus more on value-added feature development and testing rather than developing its own Linux distribution. The result: Wind River is considered a trusted, reliable technology partner. "Wind River solutions have given us the opportunity to focus our efforts on product innovation and value-add tools, without having to spend significant time debugging the hardware," said Jim Finucane, Vice President of Engineering at Bluesocket. "That, paired with Wind River's support services, has allowed us to speed our time to market while at the same time reducing overall costs." Bluesocket chose Wind River for its reputation, support of Linux kernel 2.6, partner ecosystem and worldwide, 24/7 support network. The BSAP-1700 takes advantage of Wind River Platform for Network Equipment, Linux Edition, which includes Wind River® Workbench, the company's Eclipse-based development suite. The product facilitates communication between minicomputers running embedded Linux and Bluesocket applications, enabling Access Point technologies to communicate more effectively. In addition to Wind River Platform for Network Equipment, Bluesocket also selected Wind River Workbench®, On-Chip Debugging Edition 2.6.1, the industry's most complete, end-to-end development environment for on-chip debugging. The entire solution provides Bluesocket developers with a seamless and effective integrated hardware and embedded software debug process, enabling faster time to development while optimizing their core competencies. Developing devices has never been more difficult, and as such, Wind River understands the ever-changing needs of the network industry. The company provides best-in-class operating platforms, device development tools and 24/7 support services that offer superior, cost-effective and consistent customer care. "Wind River strives to bring efficiencies to the development cycles of our customers with our tools and operating platforms" said Kuljeet Kalkat, Vice President of Product Management for Wind River. "We are pleased that Bluesocket already is benefiting from the value of Wind River’s solutions and as a result, is able to focus on developing its value-add features while reducing their costs and increasing engineering productivity."
