Developing Certified Systems and Software for Next-Generation Avionics Applications

In today's world, avionics manufacturers are struggling to stay on schedule and within budget, using traditional federated avionics platforms. To reduce avionics DO-178B development and deployment costs, along with addressing size, weight, and power (SWaP), leading companies are implementing robust partitioned ARINC 653 Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) architecture based on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) technologies as well as more capable, deterministic Ethernet-based data busses (e.g., AFDX and TTEthernet).

This transition is accelerated by the adoption of proven COTS software design and development tools, using open industry standards. These tools and platforms expand the speed and capabilities of next-generation aircraft avionics, enable compliance with ARINC 661, and improve time to certification for critical systems.

How will you remain competitive in the increasingly complex global aerospace market?

Wind River, Esterel Technologies, and TTTech designed this complimentary full-day workshop to help you answer this question.

Morning Agenda

Learn how to efficiently build and certify avionics displays in aircraft platforms, design and integrate complex avionics systems, and reduce certification risk by using COTS DO-178B certification evidence for IMA platforms.

Afternoon Agenda

Choose from one of two afternoon sessions.

1:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m. – Technical Track
Gain keen insight into how to migrate existing applications from legacy federated architecture to more capable Integrated Modular Avionics architecture. See how special tools can simplify the design of IMA platforms including integrating display platforms and high-speed communication platforms that reduce size, weight, and power consumption of avionics systems.

  • Introduction: Moving from a Legacy Federated System to Integrated Modular Avionics
  • Esterel: SCADE Solutions for ARINC 661 Compliant Cockpit Displays
  • Wind River: Integrated Modular Avionics
  • TTTech: Distributed IMA and Synchronization of IMA Platforms
  • ALT/Esterel/Wind River/TTTech: Technology Demonstration and Roundtable Discussion

1:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m. – Executive Track
This is an opportunity for managers and directors to gain insight into how the use of COTS tools and certification evidence can reduce cost, risk, and time on your next avionics project. Our business executives can explain the benefits of model-based development strategies, IMA platforms, and the resulting return on investment (ROI).

  • Opportunity for managers and software leads to understand how to manage larger-scale development programs
  • Impact on ROI and increase in productivity
  • How to collect metrics and a demonstration of SCADE metric tool
  • User experiences and results

4:00 p.m.–5:30 p.m. – Partner Pavilion Open

  • Open discussion
  • Cocktails
