Challenge Solution Results
WAAS is a safety-critical system that monitors and corrects GPS navigation signals to pilots.

WAAS had to conform to RTCA DO-178B Level B.

Proven COTS technology allowed Raytheon to concentrate on implementing the features that make WAAS a safe and reliable solution, without having to worry about the safety of the underlying technology.

Wind River worked with the FAA to ensure that the VxWorks Certification Evidence met the requirements of RTCA DO-178B Level A as a COTS certifiable solution.

Raytheon successfully certified WAAS to RTCA DO-178B Level B.

WAAS has been providing pilots with corrected GPS data for many years.
