Wind River Supports Intel Xeon Processor Platform for Large-Scale Communications Infrastructure Systems

Wind River® expands its hardware architecture support to include the Intel® Xeon® processors E5-2600 and E5-2400 v2 product family paired with the Intel Communications Chipset 89xx series with Intel QuickAssist Technology (formerly codenamed “Highland Forest”) to its embedded portfolio, including Wind River LinuxVxWorks®Wind River Open Virtualization, and Wind River Intelligent Network Platform. This processor platform is designed to address new subscriber features while maximizing network performance, meet storage demands needs by reducing overall capacity requirements, and tackle security threats in real time without losing performance. The processor platform has achieved new levels of performance boosts in Wind River lab tests for network functions virtualization and security applications. Together with Wind River technologies, the new processor platform can assist companies in meeting the challenges of an evolving virtualized telecommunications and security infrastructure.
